Meet Kristen. I seriously love this girl. Responsible, mature, beautiful (inside and out), with a deep faith in God. She’s a girl after my own heart! We had a blast during our rep session. Got pushed out of a location by some girl scouts, waited mid-shot while a walking troupe (I think that’s what they were) passed between us, rolled out around a bit in the grass and found out that we had a few extra things in common (giggle!). I’m excited that we’ve already come up with some fabulous ideas for her official senior session in the fall but I do have to admit I just love these images we captured now!

Beautiful mom-to-be of twins! | Lilburn Photographer

I have to admit, I was never a glowing pregnant lady. I mean, maybe I glowed but I was also super seriously miserable. Pregnancy and I just didn’t always get along. But some people just seem to exude health and happiness when they are pregnant. And Kirby is just one of those people! We photographed Kirby when she was about 32ish weeks pregnant with TWIN boys. I’m so proud of her to say that she was able to carry those boys well past the “safe” date for twins and delivered two BIG, HEALTHY boys. On to the pictures. We made sure to capture a view images of the happy soon to be mom & dad… probably some of the last images they’ll have of just themselves in a good bit!

Then we “released” Ryan and focused just on Kirby and her sweet twin belly!

And since those sweet little boys were born just last week, be on the look out for their newborn portraits soon!

As you all know, I’m currently taking a little break from my business as I focus on homeschooling my children. BUT (you knew there was a but coming, right?!) when a friend you’ve had since FOURTH grade has a baby… well that makes you NEED to pull out the camera, right?!!? I had hoped to photograph sweet little Emalyn throughout her infancy but alas, moving four hours away throws a few kinks in the plans!!

So, here we are THIS precious baby turned SEVEN months on the day of our session!

Photographing babies who can sit up and smile and coo is just fun. Photographing those same babies outside in my favorite field, at sunset is just ridiculously fun. Add ALL that together with the fact that little Miss Emalyn is SERIOUSLY SERIOUSLY SERIOUSLY adorable and soooooooooooo happy — you’ve got it… I had the most FUN ever. We changed this baby FOUR times, we put her in fields, in baskets, on blankets, on little doll beds and in her Mommy’s arms. She was happy and sweet and never even fussed. Especially once we let her chew on a little grass (hey, its fiber, right?!?)

So now I present quite possibly the happiest sitting up baby that I have ever ever photographed. She’s got blue eyes and chubby cheeks for days and she’s gonna melt your heart.

So this is just a tiny little scraping of all the FABULOUS images I capture of sweet little Emalyn. Sooo, I think this will be PART ONE of a blog post for her! Hahaha, my blog, I can do that, right?!

The Brock Family – Lilburn Photographer

So it’s been a little quiet on the blog. I’ve hinted at things in my LAST post but never really discussed it fully. When my family moved here to the Atlanta area, we decided we would be homeschooling our two girls. It wasn’t an easy decision nor one we took lightly but a decision that worked the best for our family, in our current state. With that, I decided that I would put my business on the “back burner” so to speak. I’m not closing doors, I’m not quitting, I’m not STOPPING. I just knew I needed to focus on this new state of “normal” for my family. I had to figure out how to be the best teacher for my children, possible. I needed to give my kids ALL of me. So I decided that I would just take things slow and start researching locations and possibilities here in Atlanta. I also didn’t want to rush into business here and NOT be able to give my clients what they truly deserve. I want to KNOW locations, I want to know what to expect with the light, and honestly want to get more comfortable with the area.

SO, all that being said, I have not been taking sessions here in Atlanta yet. For those of you who have contacted me, I do hope we can work together in the future. I hope to begin taking sessions again, officially, in the spring. I hope by then, our new routine will feel like “normal” and I’ll really know the area so much better by then.

Now you are probably wondering what in the world does THIS have to do with the Brock Family. I’m getting there, I promise. In our time here, we’ve begun meeting new friends and new families. My husband is a youth minister here in the area at Mountain Park United Methodist Church. So really the ONLY people we’ve gotten to know are the people from the church. One of those families has been very active in our lives since we moved. They were apart of the hiring committee, a part of the welcoming committee and now are a very important part of our youth group volunteers. Their oldest son is also in the youth group. So when I finally found a location that I just loved, I knew I needed a chance to test it out on more than just MY pretty little girls (because although they are pretty, they aren’t a full family and they are used to getting photographed). I needed someone to be my ~~guinea pigs~~ models to really make sure these locations work well with families. As a mom, I also like to make sure a location will work with small children. My 7 year old knows better than to go running into the creek but I needed to make sure it was the type of location I’d feel safe taking small children to, as well! This is where the Brock Family comes into the picture. We spent a FABULOUS fall evening in Stone Mountain Park.
I have previously lived in TN for 30 years. I’ve always thought it was a great place to live and still think so. But man oh man, the Atlanta area is AMAZINGLY GORGEOUS in the fall. Like wow. Like blow my mind, wow. The trees are INSANE. Every possibly fall color you can imagine and there is just SO much of it. And it lasted a good amount of time too! We had fabulous temperatures, beautiful trees, and great light. Put it all together… with a great family… and that makes me a happy gal! So here, without further ado, is the Brock Family. Thanks guys!

New city, new locations, new clients – a whole lotta new! | Lilburn Photographer

Well things have been quiet here at Whitehill Photography. (Although no where NEAR quiet in the Hillesheim household!!) If you don’t know, Whitehill Photography relocated. My husband was offered a new job: in a new city, in a new state. At one point, we thought we would be moving to Florida. Alas, God has different plans for us. We really try to follow where God leads us and God lead us to a “little” town called Atlanta in a “little” state called Georgia. Now technically speaking, we don’t live within the city – we are a bit east (north east even) of the actual downtown Atlanta area. But who’s splitting hairs here (I know I’m not.. and since I own the blog, I get to say what goes). Our church is located in a cute little town located in Lilburn, Georgia (here in Gwinnett County). We actually live just a bit down the road in Stone Mountain, Georgia (which is Dekalb County, even though its like 10 minutes away!). And yes Stone Mountain is home to well… Stone Mountain. The strangest, largest piece of rock around!!!

I’ve been asked my MANY of my former clients if I’d come back and shoot occasionally in Murfreesboro or the Nashville area. The answer is YES. But its going to be for limited sessions and really only when my schedule allows. Having my husband’s job (he’s a youth minister) and my sweet little girls’ schedules PLUS my own business here to juggle, those visits will be selective. I’m sure you can understand that! Feel free, however, to send me an email and ask about the next time we’ll be in town. I can surely put you on a list (a good list, not a bad list)!

That being said, the blog will probably NOT be nearly as busy as you are used to seeing. We have a whole new life to adjust to here and with that, I’m going to purposefully slow down. My girls had a fabulous life in Murfreesboro and although I know that life will be EVEN MORE fabulous here in Atlanta, I want to devote much of my attention to helping them getting adjusted to our new life. There will be more on that topic later, I’m sure. I’ll be taking regular sessions of THEM and hopefully I’ll slowly start shooting here in Atlanta, as well. Baby steps though, baby steps.

And really… I have to find ALL new locations to shoot at too. I pride myself (pride before the fall maybe) on finding fun, lovely sun-DRENCHED locations that really lend to my style of shooting. And that means searching high and low. Goodness knows in Atlanta we have PLENTY of options for urban locations. And in the outskirts of Atlanta, we have PLENTY of trees for some more natural, rustic images – as well. And guess what, I’ve even found a FIELD! And a pretty little pond just calling my name! So far, I’ve bribed my children to let me take a few shots of them in a few local parks and although they are different from my old locations… I think I’m finding my groove here! And to prove just that, I’m going to leave with you a few little pretties of them. And to give my new Atlanta followers an idea of just what we can do at some of our local parks.

Starting off with Stone Mountain Park. This is, well… on that big piece of rock that is pretty hard to miss. I’ve got SEVERAL ideas for some gorgeous images here but ya know, the little ones reallllly wanted to play on the playground so we had to make it quick!

This little girl (my youngest) used to be TORTURE to photograph (she hated it). Needless to say, she’s becoming quite the model for Momma. Everytime I look at this image, it takes my breath away.

This big girl actually loves to be in front of the camera and really has been quite easy to photograph. Of course, there comes a time in every child’s life when they start to stiffen up. I’m having to work a little more to loosen her up. I think she’s so bent on looking just so, she forgets to just be herself. Momma’s little (beautiful) perfectionist.

I want to know, where does this child come up with her posing AND her sass? I think she was just born with a certain amount of sass and spunk and its not going ANYWHERE!

Just a tiny example of some of the great spots I saw right there in Stone Mountain Park, GA. If you’ve never BEEN to Stone Mountain Park you really really should check it out! We’ve yet to check out the theme park (although its certainly on our list of fun things to do here) but from all that I can see, there is just a ton of fun things to do there!

I’ve got more images to show you of another park in the Atlanta area and then I’ll be sure to post again once we take the back to school/fall images of my girls. I’m going to use the adorable pond I found virtually in my back yard! YAY for close locations!

Its not a secret that I don’t take on many weddings. For now, I’ve chosen to focus on the portrait side of photography. However, sometimes a couple will come along who I click with and who seems to really understand my style of photography and how that works with weddings. This couple is one of those. Dave & Jen had a beautiful, intimate wedding with all of their closet friends and family on a HOT day in May. I loved the colors they chose to use to accent their day (how could I not, they very close resemble my OWN branding colors!??!), I love the connections they had with everyone their on their important day and I love the connection and love the two of them share. There is something you might not know about me. I have an older sister and two young brothers. There are four of us, two boys and two girls. We’ve had our ups and downs, like all siblings do. But without a doubt, we all love each other. We might fight like crazy sometimes but we’d fight harder FOR each other. Always have and always will. My sister and I are quite a bit older than our brothers. In fact we were 12& 17 when the youngest was born! And now, somehow, the youngest is a senior and about to graduate. In all honesty, I don’t believe its really possible – I mean didn’t I just graduate myself (ahem over 10 years ago actually!)?!?! Alas, here we are, about to send the baby out into the world. Taking his senior portraits was a bittersweet time for me. I know he’s excited for all the new paths before him. I’m just in shock that it’s here so quickly! Enjoy.

Gorgeous Siegel Senior Imani | Murfreesboro & Gulf Breeze FL Photographer

So this blog post is a two parter. First I wanted to update all of my clients and fans. Whitehill Photography will, in fact, be relocating out of state. My amazing husband got the offer at an amazing church and we just couldn’t turn it down. We are so excited for our new journey in life. ALL of our family does still live here in the area, however, so we will be making frequent trips home. Wow, what a great response! I’m so excited to get to see so many of you again before we move and even more excited to get to photograph some of you for the first time! I just wanted to update all of my clients who have been thinking about the mini sessions and trying to decide when they want to book.

We only have THREE spots left in May. I can possibly open up one more day if those fill up but May has booked quickly so please don’t delay! I have only 2 possible dates left for full sessions in May, as well.

In the second half of April, I have 3 possible days left. Either for mini sessions or full sessions. My calendar is filling up quickly!

There are plans… | Murfreesboro Photographers

I’m a planner. I like to plan things. I like to plan for sessions, I like to plan birthdays, I like to plan vacations. I like to make lists. I REALLY REALLY like crossing things OFF my list. I like the KNOWN. I like having a plan and knowing what path our life will travel on. So when I started this business, I had a 5 year plan for Whitehill Photography. So far, things were going great along that plan and were moving even a bit faster than I planned. I prided myself on what I had accomplished as a NEW photographer here in Murfreesboro. I prided myself on every gorgeous smile, every ray of sunshine, and each and every home that had my portraits hanging in it. I never would have imagined that in such a short time, I would have been voted Best of Parenting 2010, Favorite Children’s Photography. I never would have BELIEVED that I would have been voted Rutherford County Ruthie’s, Best Photographer 2010. I was in awe and amazed by the path that God was leading me on.

Then sometimes things change.

And then sometimes things change ALOT.

As of June 2011, Whitehill Photography will no longer be located in Murfreesboro, TN.

Its a simple matter really. My husband’s job is moving. And where he goes, I surely will follow. As of right now, we don’t know the full details of WHERE we’ll be moving. It could be as simple as a short move northwest – to Nashville. It could be as far as moving states away. But what I do know is, our time here in Murfreesboro has come to an end. In a few weeks we will know the full details and I’ll be sure to keep my fans and clients in the “know”. If we are moving to Nashville, then I can certainly still have sessions with my clients here in Murfreesboro!

So what does this mean? Well I have an email inbox full of requests for Spring, Summer and Fall sessions. As it stands, I only have 2 months to try to fit everyone in and with full sessions and ordering prints, I just don’t see how I can manage (especially considering how much rain we usually get in the spring) So for the first and probably only time, Whitehill Photography is offering mini all digital sessions, at a very very affordable price. These sessions will be 30 minutes sessions (not themed for any season, etc) of your choice and with the price of the session, you will receive a disk with all of your digital proofs and rights to reprint those images!
The sessions are only mini sessions (30 minutes). Therefore they will not be available for Senior sessions, infant (babies under 6 months) sessions or extended family sessions. There is just simply NOT enough time to try to attempt any of those sessions for a mini. IF you are really wanting a session with me before Whitehill Photography moves and you would like a regular full session then I do have a small handful of full session dates available. Please contact me quickly, however, I do believe they will go quickly! All full sessions will be allowed a discount of $50 off the session fee. That only applies to full sessions booked.

That means I’m ITCHING to get back outside and start shooting in the glorious sunshine! I had SO much fun with last year’s giveaway that I thought it a PERFECT time to host another one!

If you’ve ever been to my home and/or to my home studio you know just how much I love large wall portraits. My house might slightly look like a shrine to my children (and lol, to my own work) bu it makes us happy. I want, nothing more, than for EVERY ONE of my clients to walk away with a large portrait from our session. And I’ve got options for that! I have options for large wall portraits (to be framed), canvas, stand-outs, metal prints and chromaluxe prints. There is certainly “something for every one”!
So for this giveaway, I’m not ONLY giving away a 45 minute mini session – I’m ALSO giving away a 16×20 canvas. That’s right now only do you get a free session – you are going to walk away with a VERY nice canvas from that session too! That’s a total of a $450 value we are talking about here people!

Okay so now for the details:

1) Immediate Family Only – No extended family sessions. Otherwise you can choose to use the session however you’d like. Seniors, Children, Family, Engagement. This session is also not available for children under the age of 6 months. A 45 mini session just isn’t enough time for those little ones!

2) The session MUST occur before May 31st.

3) The session must occur Monday- Friday. No weekend dates will be available for this mini session.

4) The session must occur in Murfreesboro, TN – but at any location of your choice.

5) Canvas giveaway is only valid in conjunction with this new session. Images from past sessions can not be used.

6) There is no actual cash value to this giveaway. Prize can not be substituted for another product.

Sometimes life gives you lemons. Sometimes there are bumps in the road. Sometimes all you want to do is crawl into bed and just breathe. My little family has received some very difficult news. We are all healthy and we WILL be all fine. We just need some time to heal, breathe, and be. So for the month of February, Whitehill Photography will be taking a sabbatical. We need time to just be together, gather our strength and focus on our family. I will be finishing up any discussions/orders/emails/ etc with current clients. I won’t be booking for Spring until I return in March. If you’ve worked with me, you’ve probably know that I fully believe that God has His hand upon us. And right now, I believe it more than ever.

For those of you who I am currently working with. Please know that I will finish up our work together. However, I will mostly only be available my email. And my office hours will be limited to Tuesday/Thursday. So sometimes there might be a delay in communication. I promise not to leave you hanging, though!

So I’m sure you’ve probably noticed that the blog has been painfully ignored the past few weeks. In an effort to make the fastest possible turn around for all my clients await proofing galleries for Christmas cards, etc – I put blogging (and Facebook posting) on hiatus. I had a chance to photography sweet little C in his home last week. Mom and I had a good time invoking the best smiles, giggles, serious stares and mischievous little grins out of this cutie! The little guy is the younger brother to 3 adorable big sisters and mom has had them each photographed in their baptismal gown, at around the same age. We couldn’t let him go without the same portraits! We then moved on to some sweet images of him just showing off his latest skills! I can’t wait to see what he’s up to at our next session. Enjoy!

So on Thursday I posted my big news of being voted “Best Kids Photographer 2010″ for the Rutherford Parent Magazine. And I also said that I’d have ANOTHER big announcement for today! And here it is: Whitehill Photography was voted “Favorite Photographer” 2010 for the Daily News Journal “Ruthie” awards! Wow, what an incredible honor. I’m amazed at all the support, love and congratulations that have flowed with my week of good news! I’m amazed at my clients, fans and friends that cared enough to NOT ONLY make me a finalist (like I had hoped!!) but to take it a step further to declare me the FAVORITE photographer of Rutherford County. For anyone who knows me, you know how much my family means to me. You know that two of the things I love the most are photography and my own family. So when I get a chance to spend an evening photographing my own sweet, smart, beautiful, funny, AMAZING little girls – I am ONE HAPPY lady. And at age 3 and 6, both of my girls are really starting to understand how having beautiful images of them makes my heart sing. They know that when Mommy does the “happy laugh” that she is overjoyed. Let’s just say there is PLENTY of happy laughing from these images. Furthermore, those that are really close to me know that I have spent SIX (yes 6) months planning this shoot. I knew what I wanted and have searched and looked and shopped until I found exactly what I had in mind to go with these images. So here is a SMALL snippet of what my girls gave me last night! If you can’t tell, I had a very specific theme in mind here: Vintage back to school. Enjoy.

I love this family, I love this little boy, I love the light we had tonight, I love what they all wore to the session, AND I love how connected they truly are to each other. We originally thought we would spend the session focused on sweet baby L but after mom and I talked, we realized we would make sure we got PLENTY of family shots in too. I really really wanted to get some sweet shots of this family doing what they do best, loving on each other. I think we scored! Along with some SUPER cute shots of little L, as well! Enjoy.

I was thrilled when Emma’s mom Monica contacted me, all the way from Franklin, for a session for her GORGEOUS daughter Emma. I love hearing how others find me and decide they must have my work for their children. Its such a neat thing to hear about who is connected to who and how. Anyways, we had an awesome session this weekend. It was UNUSUALLY warm evening for the beginning of October. Shooting in 90 degrees, with some beautiful fall foliage peaking through made me WISH for the 70s from earlier in the week. Ah, its here, its finally here! A beautiful night with a light breeze. No dripping in sweat, no matted hair, no red flushed faces as we combat temperatures around or near 100 degrees! It was lovely and I’m so glad that I got to shoot this family on this night! We have been trying to have a session since April but with a multitude of things, it just didn’t happen. So I am happy to present the ADORABLE Honeybone family. We squished faces, made silly noises, ate some silly M&Ms and finished the night up as superheroes, I’m not sure it gets any better than that. Enjoy!

Its that time again; time for family pictures, Christmas cards, and playing in the fall leaves. After a session last night in some beautiful high 70s degree weather, I’m excited!! I think we are FINALLY past the horrid 95+ days and will be moving into cool breezes and great weather. For your photographer, this is pretty close to heaven!

With that, however, means that sessions are booking fast and there aren’t many spots left for those family pictures or Christmas card sessions. I am completely and fully booked in October. Unless someone bows out there is not an opening left. ALL weekends until after Christmas are spoken for. There will unfortunately NOT be another mini sessions release. With all the weekends gone, there is just not enough time in a weekday to cram in several mini sessions before it gets dark. If enough people express solid interest, I might be able to squeeze in mini Christmas STUDIO sessions for a weekday evening in November.

There are a few dates left in November. Email me ASAP to reserve one. The fall cut off date for Christmas cards, etc is November 15th. I can not ensure that you’ll get your cards back in time if we have a session after November 15th. I will not be taking any new sessions in December except for baby planners and/or newborns.

For those clients (friends!!) who have already had a great family session this year. If you’d like to use a few images from your session in some AWESOME Whitehill Photography Christmas cards, please let me know! I have an incredible selection of Christmas cards this year. I promise they are totally rockin’!

And lastly, Whitehill Photography is MOVING. Well my family and I are moving and where we go… Whitehill goes. So the new address for Whitehill Photography will be 3010 Lancelot Drive, Murfreesboro TN 37127. For my current clients, I am going to try really really really hard not to let this move disrupt your schedule with me. However, I will be out of pocket for 1-2 days while we move my office. So please be patient with me as I get things running again. I promise to work day (and night!!) to keep things moving as smoothly as possible.

Lauren is a beautiful, self assure young lady, who knows exactly what she wants out of life and is out to get it. We tossed around alot of ideas for locations for her official senior session. Lauren loves antiques, loves church (and God), and loves all things Ag (as in agriculture) and she’s really just an All- American girl. So we finally settled on some locations and some ideas that were really fitting for her. She also wanted some portraits done in her formal FFA (Future Farmer’s of America) dress because FFA is a huge part of her life as she’s a local officer in the organization. I think we really succeeded in capturing Lauren and I’m excited to share! Enjoy!

Okay, thank you to ALL my PATIENT clients who have been waiting and waiting to hear about my Christmas mini sessions plans. Because FINALLY, here it is!

So to recap: October 9th is the date. Just for the kids. 30 minute mini session. Two packages. $100 due at book to reserve session.

There is a LIMITED number of these sessions available for October 9th. I’m doing them all on location. If October 9th gets booked up quickly and there are many more wanting a spot, I’ll try to open up another weekday spot for mini sessions. This will be the ONLY weekend mini session date.

Also, take note that I am offering digital files this year for Christmas sessions. I know so many of you like to gift Whitehill Photography images for Christmas presents, etc. So I’m making it easy for you!

Murfreesboro Photographer| Riverdale Senior Shelby

ANOTHER gorgeous, sweet senior from Riverdale High School! I got to use some completely new (to me) locations for her session and BOY were they fun. We started off at Riverdale High because Shelby is a totally awesome (Holds a record, even!!) swimmer and thought she’d like a few shots at the pool. It obviously is somewhere she spends alot of time at and its something important from her high school career. After that we spent some time on the Murfreesboro Square. The Square really does offer soo many opportunities and great spots for portraits., so I was delighted she chose to use it, as well. We finished up at her family farm. Her grandparents have carefully cultivated their beautiful land and well, to be honest, this photographer was in HEAVEN with all the gorgeous light that filtered through their property. I really had such a great time and think we got some breathtaking images. Here is a small sneak peek of what I shot (because, in true fashion, I just kept shooting and shooting!!). Enjoy!

So Emily and I have been talking about her senior pictures for a LONG time. I’m happy and honored that she decided such a long time that I should be the one to do this for her. And then we did her rep session and it went wonderfully. And then we planned her senior session. And it was 103 degrees outside that day. Now, I CAN shoot during those temperatures, but honestly does ANYONE look good in 103 degree heat and 80% humidity? No! And I wanted Emily to look and FEEL her best for her pictures. So we rescheduled. And then that day came and it rained and was cloudy and gross and then stormed. So we rescheduled. And we were MAJORLY rewarded. A lovely day, 87 degrees with a light wind and low humidity. So we finally had our session. And without further ado… here they are. Enjoy!

Okay so some newborns sleep. And some eat. And some fuss. And some pee on us and some poop on us. And you NEVER know what you are going to get. So every session is interesting and different, just watching to see what kind of baby you’ll get.

That’s right, I had the opportunity to photograph newborn twins and they were sooo sooo sweet! I was able to do some shots of them, on their own and then some of them together. I have to say, they were soo much more peaceful and content with all my positioning and moving, when they were together! The BEST part was when their hands intertwined on one of the shots, with NONE of my doing! I can’t wait to see these two grow up and how much they’ll love on each other then! Enjoy.

And I’m happy to be nominated. And while I know my business is very fairly young, especially compared to some of the other photographers/portrait studios in the area, I have high hopes. Some of you might know that my husband is a youth minister (and an awesome one at that!) Every year he takes his youth group on several mission trips. When our girls were smaller, I wasn’t able to go on those mission trips but I loved hearing the stories. Now that they are getting a little older, I GET TO GO!!! So the office here at Whitehill Photography will be closed starting today (June 20) until June 30th, 2010. If you have questions about a session or want to book something (by the way, starting to book into September, start thinking about those Christmas Card portraits NOW!) you can go ahead and shoot me an email and I promise to get back to you when I get back! Okay so you know what I love? I love fun kids, who love each other and are willing to have a little fun with ME! And you know what I got?? JUST THAT on Thursday evening. The B kids were hilarious, silly, sweet, GOOD LOOKING and well, we just had fun!! I really have to brag on these kids. It was so nice to see a brother and sister, their age, not mind holding hands or hugging each other. They were really sweet with each other and I have to think its because mom and dad have done such a good job with them! So I have sooo many great shots from this session. Hey guys! Just a quick note to let everyone know that I will be out of the office starting today until the following week. I hope to start responding to emails/returning phone calls on June 9th. This is a huge trip for us and really one of the first big trips that we’ve taken, as a family, and therefore both my husband and I have made a pledge to leave the computers at home and to totally turn “off” work and really just enjoy our uninterrupted family time. I’m sure you all can understand JUST how important it is to have time like that together. I’ll leave you with a quick snapshot I took of my big sweet Anna Claire who turned six yesterday. She is such a blessing to us! This is her all decked out to pick up her report card for school, on her birthday! (Yes she has blue streaks in her hair!! )

It was time for cute Mr. A’s 9 month session. BUT IT WON’T STOP raining IN Murfreesboro! We had to reschedule TWICE because of rain and wouldn’t you know, right in the middle of our session… we hear a rumble of thunder and look over to see a nice TN pop-up summer thunderstorm looming towards us! NO WAY! So we packed up and ran for cover… just in time because it poured! The sun was still shining (and therefore resulted in a beautiful full rainbow) but man did it pour. So we got some cute shots starting out at the Square and then had to move on to somewhere that was covered (and therefore not soaking wet!!) So where did we go, one of the best “porches” ever… Oakland Mansion! Enjoy!

This past weekend I was able to be part of a great event called “Photos for the Flood”. Photographers across the Nashville area and Middle TN donated their time and talent and people from the all around came and donated their cash! For $50 clients could book a 20 minute mini session with one of the photographers and get 5 digital images. Easy as that. And ALL the proceeds go straight to the Nashville Red Cross and Hands on Nashville. Two days, MANY talented photographers, a ton of cute kids, great looking families and couples and even some DOGS and we raised $2745 for Nashville. And that doesn’t even count the proceeds that The Pied Piper Creamery raised by donating 25% of THEIR profits for the day, as well. (And um, if you’ve never had ice cream from there… please… please… please check it out… you WILL not be disappointed, I promise! 114 S. 11th Street Nashville). I was able to donate my time for Saturday morning and had three great sessions with some great people. Here are a few of the images I captured. I’m happy I could do my part to help out! Enjoy!

The last time I saw baby B, he was just a sweet, peaceful newborn and now he’s a sweet, silly, fun little 6 month old baby boy! I’m not going to lie to you, this session was hot and MOSQUITO filled. I know his lovely family got attacked and I kept feeling like I was getting bit on my back but I thought, surely not, NOT through my shirt. Until I got home and I had THIRTY THREE (yes, 33) mosquito bites THROUGH my shirt, covering my back. I’m still itching and applying cortisone as I edit these super cute images. And man, this little one is a CUTIE! Enjoy!

And its finally begun, my official senior rep season! If the rain will just HOLD off, we’ll be fitting quite a few of these in the next few weeks. For those of you who may not know, let me explain what I mean by a “senior rep session”. I was contacted by several juniors this year all who are positive they want their senior pictures to be something new and different. So, that’s where I step in. These “reps” are getting a free session this spring and they’ll get their own “rep cards” to hand out. Each one of those cards give the receipt a credit with me, if they were to book. AND if any of those seniors book with me, the “rep” gets credit towards prints for their full session! Its a really fun program and I adore working with all the fun upcoming seniors!

Drum roll please:…………………………… MY wonderful amazing husband Brett and I are going out of town. ALONE. Wait did you read that? Its true, its true! Almost SIX years. Our sweet wonderful daughter Anna was born six years ago. And we haven’t taken a single trip alone since then. Its long overdue and we are very excited. So, I will be pretty much unavailable until Friday. My wonderful mother in law Linda is holding down the fort here and taking care of my girlies. He’s my brother!

That’s right… MY little brother (well one of them, I have two!) is featured in a BIG way on the blog tonight. He’s 18 and going to be graduating very very soon. We were slated to do his senior pictures in the fall but well, things just didn’t happen that way. So here he is. I remember SOOO vividly the day he was born (10 weeks premature, might I add… which was alot back then). I remember going to see him every day in the NICU while he grew strong enough to come home. I remember watching him grow, going to little league games, wanting to beat up little kids who weren’t nice to him. I CAN NOT BELIEVE HE IS GETTING READY TO GRADUATE! How is that even possible?? I feel like it wasn’t that long ago I GRADUATED! And here is someone, who is almost like my OWN child, and he’s graduating. I love him dearly, he means the world to me and I hope he LOVES his senior pictures. So I’ll leave you to the pictures… and maybe a little from The Hollies. Enjoy!

For those who are asking, I’m quickly booking into May and June. May is just about booked up! If you are thinking about a newborn session like this little guy’s… be sure to contact me while you are still pregnant. Its very very important that newborn sessions, if at all possible, happen in the first 10 days of life. After that, they start to lose their new, tininess and they stop wanting to sleep so much for us, as well

The weather finally warmed up, dried up and everything is a bloom. So I finally got to take some shots of my girls in their Easter dresses. And let me tell you… not only was the weather beautiful, not only were the flowers beautiful but MAN, oh MAN… this mommy is proud to say THE GIRLS are so insanely beautiful, it takes my breath away! I have sooo many of these to share and (so many I’m going to want for the walls!!!) but here are three to start us off.

I had the honor of photographing a tiny, sweet little newborn on Monday. She is absolutely gorgeous and has a gorgeous, sweet family, too! I really enjoyed photographing her and chatting with her mommy and daddy, even if she gave us a big run for our money in the first half of the session. This mommy booked with me in advance of having her little one and was able to let me photograph her when she was 6 days old. For any future, potential newborn clients this is really perfect timing to capture your baby while they are still so tiny and fresh. Way to go mom! Enjoy the sneak peek.

I know, I know… there are a million people out there asking you to donate your hard earned money for a cause. Telethons, walkathons, raffles, school fundraisers, church fundraisers, sports team fundraisers… the list goes on and on. Its not often that I talk about my personal life here on the blog. However, the annual Walk for MS is approaching and we’ve begun assembling our team.

“MS, you say?” Yes, Multiple Sclerosis. “But that’s treatable right?!” For many there are treatments that really work and really help. Unfortunately, not all forms of MS have and FDA approved medications or treatments for them. The way we fight this is for more money and more research.

A few years ago, my husband – my amazing wonderful gift from God husband, started having some strange things going on. He was having intense fatigue and deep leg pain that no medication was even touching. Things progressed and after alot of drs appointment we found an answer. My husband has Primary Progressive MS. PPMS is one of the more rare forms of MS that really have no helpful treatments for. So my husband is left in pain pretty much every hour of every day of his life. You would never know it unless you noticed him limping or watched my vibrant, young, seemingly healthy husband use a cane on long walks. He’s determined not to let this thing stop him and we are all determined that they (meaning the wonderful doctors and researchers out there working hard) WILL give him some hope and some relief one day. So I’m asking YOU to help us!

The event happens on April 10th, 2010. Registration begins at 9:00 am and the walk begins at 10:30 am. Its a 1 mile walk (nothing too strenuous, I promise!!) at the Barfield Crescent Park here in Murfreesboro, you can find registration at Shelter #7.

So I’ve been back to work this week after a much needed and MUCH enjoyed vacation! We had a beautiful Christmas and an amazing time outside of Chicago with family. I am so blessed with my little family, I can’t begin to explain or put into words how much I love them! I hope to share some pictures from Christmas, etc soon!

BUT for NOW, I have a client awaiting a sneak peek. Sorry for the small delay! You’ve seen this sweet baby before and she was back this week for her 6th month session. Sadly, little baby A wasn’t so sure about our session and refused to give us even ONE big smile and we TRIED. All my clients know how hard I work for those sweet smiles and this was NO session was no exception. Smiles or no smiles, she’s still a beautiful baby and here she is – sitting up like a big girl now!

Murfreesboro Tired Photographer | Out of the Office Notice

After the hustle and bustle of fall portrait and Christmas card season, this photographer is taking a much needed vacation. Starting Monday, December 21st- January 4th, I will be out of the office. I want to spend the rest of this week concentrating on my family and what this coming holiday means to me and our family. After Christmas we are going on a highly anticipation family vacation and will be away from the computer. I do have access to my email if something is incredible urgent but won’t be available at all times, even through email.
I want to take this time to again thank all of my amazing clients this year. It has been an incredible year; full of learning experiences, tons of laughs, millions of silly noises (by me, to get those sweet children to smile!!) and I thank you for following me on my journey. Franklin Child Photographer | Mr H turns One!

So this session was just MEANT to be. Mom and I both wanted an outdoor session for little Mr H for his one year session. His first birthday, however, is in the middle of December. We all know that we have mild winters here in TN (no matter how many times we pray for a White Christmas!!) but today was an EXCEPTION. Today was crazy warm and even the thick clouds gave away to beautiful sun! Just wow! So we had a great session walking around the square of Franklin, TN. We had some GREAT store owners who very gracious in allowing us to use their benches (Thank you Ivey and Prim and Paper)! Put it all together and we had a super fun session. To top it ALL off, this is my last session of 2009. What a great way to end an AMAZING year. Thank you to all my clients from the past year! I can honestly say that I like all of my clients. I enjoy my job, enjoy photographing children and enjoy meeting new people. But every once in a while I get to photograph someone(s) that aren’t just clients. This time, its my own niece and nephew. So not only do I like these clients, I love ‘em! Alot of times photographing children that KNOW you well is more difficult than photographing children that don’t know you. This time last year, these sweet little ones were some of my first few clients. Although they are beautiful (then and now), my nephew gave me a run for my money last year… and did NOT want to be photographed. This year I can 100% say that this was one of the easiest sessions I’ve had all year. They did great and we got done quickly. Which was good because today was pretty dang cold and the clouds just kept rolling in, thicker and thicker! Without further ado: some good looking kids that I have a little claim on! Enjoy!

Here is sweet baby B again, back again at 6 months! We met tonight at Old Fort Park in Murfreesboro. I just knew that mosquitoes would be a thing of the past since we’ve had some frost and very chilly night. Apparently NOT, we were unfortunately swarmed. And poor Miss B wasn’t so sure about the whole thing at first. But her opinion of me and my camera luckily turned around and we got some gorgeous images! Momma, you are getting a big sneak peek, I just could NOT pick! I’m sure you won’t mind! (Oh and can I just say how happy I am to see the beautiful sun again!?!)

We were a bit rushed to get a good family image, dad had to go back to work! I think we scored!

A new AMAZING product here at Whitehill Photography| Murfreesboro TN Photographer

So far, I’ve pretty much stuck to the typical portraits products: prints, canvases, greeting cards, etc. Mostly because I’ve yet to see another type of product that I felt was worthy of passing on to my awesome clients. I’m not a fan of gimmick products to just up a sale. However, I have now found a product that I think every mother and grandmother will just love! Imagine your favorite image from a session in a custom made photo charm!

These charms are made using a crystal clear glass tile measuring 1 inch x 1 inch and are just stunning! The charm comes complete with a simple ball chain but you can slip it on your favorite necklace chain, as well!

Meet Mr. W. This little one is all boy: full of energy, full of spunk and full of love for all things that GO – especially trains! Good thing I planned a location that had its very own train car, huh!?! I met up with this cutie and his mom here in Murfreesboro at good ol’ Cannonsburgh! I really don’t like to overuse locations but Cannonsburgh offers SO much for this age and I’m hard pressed to find a better spot for 2 year olds! You better believe I used every spot I could think of to keep this little one interested! And guess what, we even ran into two fellow photographers… hope you guys got some great shots too! Momma was a little worried we might not get any of his smiling but I’m hoping THIS little jewel makes her happy.

Lisa & Brent | Franklin, TN Wedding Photography

Well here it is! My first wedding! Do you recognize the couple?? There have been alot of firsts, of course, this year at Whitehill Photography. Lisa is a pretty big part of our life here and when Brent proposed, she asked me to do her engagement session. We had a great session here in Murfreesboro and her and Brent were one of my first ever engagement sessions! I had thought I was convinced that I didn’t want to do weddings for now, until Lisa asked! I had the pleasure of photographing this sweet sweet baby boy on Saturday. What made the experience THAT much sweeter was to see his dad with him. You can feel the love and joy radiate out of him and that’s enough to make any mommy (or other daddy) smile! Baby N was very very sleepy so we had to be creative to get what we wanted but I think everyone will be happy! Enjoy!

You’ve seen this couple before. We’ve had one session that was cut pretty short. So we rescheduled once only to have tons of rain and ugly weather. Last night we finally met up again. So this sweet couple drove all the way from Clarksville, TN to have me photograph them twice! They are so cute and braved a SUPER hot evening walking around the Murfreesboro City Square. I love so many of these shots so this is a bit long of a sneak peek, I just couldn’t choose!

Yep, I’m baaack! Had an amazing (and exhausting) time in NYC. I have over 600 pictures from the trip but haven’t had a chance to look at hardly any of them. I’m back to work right away! First up is sweet girl B. Sweet, smart, cautious and VERY well-behaved. This had to have been one of the easiest 2 year old sessions EVER (even if it was HOT!). We met up in Cannonsburg here in Murfreesboro, TN to take advantage of their a)shaded porches b) fun backgrounds and great textures c) proximity to the Murfreesboro Greenway (and a little stream!). B wasn’t exactly sure about some of the things I tried to get her to do but she loved the tractors, the train and the FLOWERS! Momma even said she cried on the way home for me. How sweet is that? See… sessions with me are so fun, your kids will want to stay!!

Out of the office… NYC bound | Murfreesboro TN Photographer

Many of my clients already know but as of this post, I won’t be available. My husband and I are taking a NINE day mission trip (with his youth group) to New York, New York. Its bound to be an amazing time and I’m very excited. I’m more than a little sad, nervous, worried about leaving my sweet beautiful girls for so long. I do know, however, they are in good hands. If you are the praying type, maybe say an extra prayer (or 5, lol) for me and them… that will get through this separation okay!

Regardless, I will be out of the office and pretty much out of contact until we get back. I’ll be asnwering emails and calls again on the 27th. I’m excited to come back refreshed and ready to start my much anticipated fall season full of babies, seniors and Christmas mini sessions! I’ll leave you with an image of the “new” me. I had a fairly drastic hair cut and have been asked for pictures to prove it! It feels great to get all that weight off my head! Take care and see you on the flip side.

WARNING: sweet baby alert!! B’s momma contacted me awhile back and I’m so happy to finally meet her. A little bit of a rough start (she was hungry!) and she was NOT sure she wanted to smile for us but man, oh man… she is still a total sweet cutie! We tried several different things out, dodged a few spit up splashes and managed to make her smile a few times! Enjoy momma & daddy and thanks again for finding me!

Baby H’s mom scheduled a session with me, looking for a particular image. She’s hoping to capture her son in a very specific way, an image that she’s always hoped she’d have of her son. Unforunately, big boy H was NOT giving us a bunch of big smiles today. We made just about every silly noise we could think of and finally.. finally… I think we got a few! I couldn’t not show this one. I know he’s not giving us that sweet smile but man, he’s CUTE!

He got a little sleepy on us after being so serious but we managed to find a few more smiles and sweet looks.

Lisa and Brent did everything I asked, laughed a ton, told each other secrets while I got in place for the shot and are obviously very happy together! Christmas Packages and Session Dates!| Murfreesboro Photograper

I’ve been asked several times already about sessions packages and dates for Christmas. After much thought and planning, I’m ready to release them now.

This year all Christmas portraits (and cards) MUST be ORDERED by November 15th, at the latest. I want to be sure you have time to get your cards in the mail before Christmas! So I’ll be offering several weekends in October and November that will be solely booked for mini sessions. Mini sessions will be 30 minutes long and you will get 10-15 proofs in your online gallery.

Mini session dates are as follows:

October 3rd

October 10th

October 17th

November 7

ONLY mini sessions will be booked on these dates.

The package total is due at booking, to reserve your date and time.

As of this post, sessions are available for booking. I know several people are waiting in the wings to book so please book early!

One tough motorcyle dude… | Murfreesboro Child Photography

C shares the same birthday as my Anna. C loves all things motorcyles and monster trucks. C is one of the cutest little boys ever! After several session reschedules, we finally were able to get together for Clay’s 5 year portraits. Momma was a little worried about his eye contact… hope these make her happy!

This one will hopefully make Clay happy… his two favorite colors are red and blue!!

Again, I just LOVE photographing the children of old friends! There is just something special about it to me. We used to laugh and talk about boys, school, clothes, whatever… now we talk about our kids and well, boys (our husbands of course!) and laugh till we cry. We are all grown up now but somethings just never change.

This sweet boy is just gorgeous! He was a total ham and easy-peasy to photograph! I think his session MIGHT have been my fastest session to date!

Do you know how neat it is to watch your best friend create her own family? I met my beautiful friend in high school (we both swam back stroke on the swim team) and we were our very own force of nature back then! This super sweet girl! She was easy, cooperative, helpful and just plain sweet! Could I ask for more?? I think not! We went through several outfit changes AND background changes and she just let me, without even flinching. There is a first for everything! I met a precious little girl for the first time today… and boy did we have fun! After a little warm-up time with “THE Elmo Chair” she was happy and ready to play with me. We tried lots of different things out and ended up with a fun cake smash to celebrate her first birthday. She was so so dainty while eating the cake but seriously chowed down! I’m so glad her mom was referred to me, I had a great time!

My sweet mother in law loves her grandkids like nothing else. So OF COURSE she wants some pictures of them and who does she ask? Why little ol’ me, of course! It was a WILD time. My little one wanted very little to do with it, the other little one wasn’t sure if he liked sitting or standing better. My big one kept giving us the funniest smiles and the other big one really really just didn’t want to have his picture taken! I managed to still capture some keepers out of the session and so without further ado… here are the boys, in their glory!

Yes, this little boy is a REPEAT customer! I had the privilege of photographing this sweet sweet little boy ON his first birthday, WITH his first smash cake! YAY! He wasn’t entirely sure he loved it but I think he had fun trying, nonetheless. Normally I have smiles galore from this little one but he wasn’t quite as happy today so my sneak peek is with some of his more serious looks which are just PRECIOUS! I promised all of my “fans” that I would warn them WELL in advance before I changed my advertised special. So be warned, its coming. To receive my current discount (50% off print prices plus no session fee) you must book by September 1, 2009. The session doesn’t have to happen by September but must be booked by no later than the above date. The session must occur in 2009, however. I will still offer occasional specials and discounts but after my busy spring and summer schedule – I am moving forward.
